The so-called “upgrade” that previously screwed up the service of the official Hollywood Vampires store strikes again!

Right now, it’s affecting the downloads of both the paid and free ebooks, so that customers from yesterday and today haven’t been able to download any of their ebooks. My trusty web-designer Charly is working hard to track down the problem, and as diligent as she is, I’m sure she’ll have the gremlins put to bed before long.

In the meantime…

If you’re having any problems downloading ebooks you’ve purchased — or are available for free — I’m keeping a vigil on the store, so all you have to do is drop me a quick e-mail, and I’ll happily send your ebooks to you via e-mail instead. I’ve already “hand-delivered” several readers’ ebooks to them today, and it’s not a problem, so DO NOT HESITATE to ask for help if you need it.

I’m here to make sure you get the books you want as quickly and painlessly as possible, and as long as this snafu’s going on, I’ve got one eye on my inbox — I know when orders are made, and if any of them have problems, just let me know, and I’ll take care of things for you, no sweat.

As far as I can tell, there are no problems ordered the autographed paperbacks, so that’s all good — this particular glitch seems to just be affecting the ebook downloads.

Damned computers.

I’ll let you know when everything’s working fine again, and thank you again for your patience!

… and it ain’t pretty.

I was just getting ready to call it a day when I caught the latest post from Brian and wanted to pass it along to you guys.

As you saw in an earlier blog post from today, Dorchester responded to the boycott of their company spearheaded by Brian Keene and other ripped-off authors, and Brian shot right back at them just a little while ago. It’s just disgusting the kind of stuff that Dorchester was trying to pull with these authors, and it’s a clear pattern of author-abuse and outright thievery that irks me to my bones.

Serious bullshit, this is.

Check out Brian’s latest post right HERE – and don’t ever buy from Dorchester ever again. A company that uses and abuses its authors — the very lifeblood of its business — in such a severe, blatantly parasitic way doesn’t deserve a goddamned cent from any of us.

Screw those scumfucks straight to hell.

Dorchester Publications has got to be writhing in discomfort right now, after the hell raised by Brian Keene and other authors last week for DP’s shitty treatment of its writers, as I mentioned in an earlier blog entry. A LOT of people are in on the boycott now, and a LOT of people are rightfully PISSED.

Good.

Brian offered his final thoughts on the boycott the other day, which you can find HERE.

And just today, Dorchester promised to “do right” by its authors, as you’ll see in this article HERE.

In the final analysis, I honestly don’t know if anybody’s really going to get what they deserve — big companies are notorious for their bullshit, after all — but at the very least, I think Brian and the other wronged writers were able to deliver a rather ugly blow to Dorchester with the boycott. Something like this is going to leave quite the stain on Dorchester’s name, and it’s going to make their regrouping process even more difficult, if not impossible.

I know I’m never gonna buy anything from those jackasses ever again. Authors face enough obstacles as it is without their publishers — whom they should be able to look to as a source of support and strength — outright stealing from them and treating them like dirt.

If you’d like to pick up any of Brian’s work and show some support for a horror writer who’s also a genuinely good guy — and a devoted metal-head! — check out Brian’s official website… he’s never disappointed me!

Brian Keene — one of my all-time favorite writers — recently posted an entry on his blog regarding how Dorchester Publishing (who published his horror novels under their Leisure imprint) has been ripping him off since late 2009, and how he’s attempted to deal with them in a grown-up manner. He severed ties, finally told them to forget about the money they owed him, and just wanted the rights for his books back… and then they turned around and screwed him over anyway.

Even though they no longer hold the rights to Brian’s books, Dorchester continues to sell them — and keep giving Brian the runaround when he tries to get them to stop AND get the money he’s earned for these new sales. They basically seem to think they can jerk him around because they’re a big company and he’s just one author.

Brian recently posted a blog about these experiences, and called for a boycott on all Dorchester books, a damned reasonable response considering everything they’ve been pulling on him and other authors. Check the link below to see his blog…

Brian Keene — BOYCOTT DORCHESTER (With Updates)

And just today, Brian posted that the boycott is grabbing BIG support from other writers, professionals, and readers around the world! Take a gander here…

Brian Keene — List of Professionals Endorsing the Dorchester Boycott

I’ve thrown in my support as well, because authors already face enough obstacles and bullshit without having to worry about being ripped off like this. I used to buy Dorchester books very regularly, but not anymore — screw those pricks.

If you’re a reader of Dorchester fiction — check out Brian’s first blog, towards the bottom, to find out if the book you’re reading is published by Dorchester — boycott ‘em and show ‘em what you think of the way they treat hard-working writers like Brian!

Just heard about this from my fellow vampire writer and lovable weirdo, Karen “Elmo” Diaz — whom I’m sure many of you are already acquainted with!

To make a long story short, Adam Hamilton — former bassist for L.A. Guns and all-around good guy — and his wife Dawn recently had a baby, and things have NOT been going well for the wee one, little Emerson Grace. The poor kid stopped breathing during labor, and though was saved by an emergency C-section, she suffered a brain injury and still can’t swallow on her own.

Adam and Dawn are going to be taking on a full-time infant nurse when Emerson comes home, and that’s not gonna come cheap!

So if you can spare a few bucks, please do follow the link below and help out a baby — and family — in need. Though I don’t have kids of my own, I hate seeing this kind of thing happen to little ones who should have a chance at a happy life, and I just chipped in, myself… keep your fangs crossed for her!

I Want To Help Out Little Emerson Grace!

Many thanks to you guys from Adam, Dawn, and wee Emerson!
